2-Day Motorcycle Tour: LA – Mt. Whitney – Death Valley – LA
Ride from the Mountains to the Desert in One Epic Weekend
This action-packed two-day motorcycle tour takes you from the streets of Los Angeles into the towering Sierra Nevada and down to the surreal landscapes of Death Valley. You’ll ride through mountain passes, scenic highways, and remote desert roads — all in just one unforgettable weekend.
Note: While this is designed as a two-day tour, we can easily extend it to three days if you’d like to spend more time in the mountains or the desert. Whether it’s an extra hike near Mt. Whitney, a relaxing morning in Lone Pine, or a sunset camp in Death Valley — we’ll customize the experience to match your pace and travel style.
Day 1: Los Angeles – Mt. Whitney – Lone Pine
We kick off the ride with the legendary Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2) — a twisty, scenic route through the pine-covered mountains of the Angeles National Forest. After a quick stop in the alpine town of Wrightwood, we hit US-395 North, where the massive wall of the Sierra Nevada comes into view.
By afternoon, we arrive in Lone Pine, an iconic Wild West town nestled below Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the continental U.S. (14,505 ft / 4,421 m). We’ll explore the cinematic rock formations of Alabama Hills, a favorite filming location for westerns and sci-fi. Optional detour: ride the winding Whitney Portal Road up into the heart of the mountains — it’s short, steep, and stunning.
Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Lone Pine.
Day 2: Lone Pine – Death Valley – Baker – Los Angeles
In the morning, we ride into Death Valley National Park — one of the most extreme and beautiful landscapes in the world. We’ll stop at Father Crowley Vista Point for epic canyon views (and maybe a surprise flyover by fighter jets), then continue past Panamint Springs to the famous Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes.
Midday brings us to Furnace Creek, where we cool off, refuel, and check out the visitor center. Then it’s off to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level — a vast, otherworldly salt flat.
Optional stop: Dante’s View, a panoramic overlook 5,475 ft above the valley floor.
We wrap up with a quick break in Baker — home to Alien Jerky and the world’s tallest thermometer — before cruising back to LA via I-15.
