My name is Roland and I am a long time professional in the Powersports Business. After riding on the road since I was 16 years old I finally got the opportunity to ride off-road when I moved to East Tennessee about 7 years ago. I have since been working to increase my skill level and took some professional off-road riding classes with Dirt-Wayz and DART riding school. I also followed the On-road MSF training to qualify to be a Rider Coach. I enjoy meeting fellow riders and sharing the great riding this area has to offer!
This approximately 6 hour tour for ADV and Dual Sport bikes, starts in Vonore Tennessee, right near the best riding in the Smoky Mountains just down the road from the famous "Tail of the Dragon".
This about 140 mile long tour takes about 6 hours and ,time wise, is about 70% Off-road and 30% On-road.
However, the On-road sections are winding and a lot of fun to ride, even somewhat challenging!
The first part of this tour follows the same route as the Route 1 Tour I also offer.
For more details, please read the description there. It features riding along various rivers and creeks up into the mountains with a mix of On and Off-Road stretches and terminates in Tellico Plains where we can have a break and get read for the next stretch.
After the break, we head back up the road following a fast flowing local highway for about 10 miles to reach a forrest service track that leads up and over a local mountain. The track starts at 1000 ft and reaches the top of the mountain at 2200 ft after which it leads back down the other side.
The trail is mostly gravel but with certain rockier sections with some larger rocks and ruts, the down side has a particular small stretch that has goes over large boulders where picking a good line is essential. The final stretch takes us back to another local highway where we can head back to Tellico Plains and Vonore, following some beautiful winding back roads. Or, for the die-hards we can head back up the mountain and go back the way we came before heading back to Vonore, although this will make the large boulder stretch even a bit more challenging.
