Western Highlights — 15-Day Self-Guided Motorcycle Tour

Ride an advertised 2,320-mile loop from Los Angeles through California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. The route links desert mountain roads, Joshua Tree, Route 66, the Grand Canyon gateway, Lake Powell, Zion, Las Vegas, Death Valley, the eastern Sierra, Yosemite country, Northern California wine country, San Francisco, Monterey, Pismo Beach, and the Pacific Coast.

Begin in Los Angeles and ride CA-74 toward Palm Springs, with winding roads and views across the Coachella Valley. Continue through Joshua Tree National Park to Kingman, then follow historic Route 66 through high-desert towns and roadside Americana to Williams. From Williams, ride through Navajo country toward Page and Lake Powell before continuing into Springdale at Zion National Park.

The route then returns to Las Vegas and crosses Death Valley to Lone Pine beneath the eastern Sierra Nevada. The advertised itinerary continues through El Portal and Yosemite country, Santa Rosa, San Francisco, Monterey, Pismo Beach, and finally Los Angeles. This second half combines granite mountains, Gold Country and wine-country landscapes, the Golden Gate, and the Pacific Coast Highway.

The route is designed to deliver rapid changes in terrain: urban Los Angeles, desert basins, Route 66 communities, red-rock canyon country, high mountain passes, forests, vineyards, and Pacific cliffs. The booklet lists temperatures from approximately 50–100°F, so riders should prepare for desert heat, cooler Sierra elevations, coastal fog, and changing mountain weather.

Fuel regularly in isolated areas, carry water, download offline maps, confirm seasonal mountain-road access, watch for wildlife and uneven pavement, and check Pacific Coast Highway conditions before departure.

The detailed portion of the booklet shows daily stages from 120 to 265 miles through Lone Pine. The route overview then carries the trip from the eastern Sierra into Yosemite’s western gateway, Sonoma County, San Francisco, and the Central Coast before the return to Los Angeles. This creates two distinct halves: a Southwest desert-and-canyon journey followed by a California mountains, wine-country, city, and coastline journey. The Los Angeles round trip also simplifies motorcycle and flight logistics.

This is a self-guided tour with no fixed group schedule. Booking the Experience includes a detailed tour booklet with the complete route, daily mileage, suggested stops, dining and lodging recommendations, rider information, and Google Maps navigation links.
