Las Vegas and Grand Canyon — 5-Day Self-Guided Motorcycle Tour

Ride a 701-mile loop through Nevada, Arizona, and Utah, linking Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, historic Route 66, the Grand Canyon South Rim, Navajo country, Kanab, Zion National Park, and the Valley of Fire. The itinerary includes three riding days, four nights, and arrival and departure days in Las Vegas.

Begin with time to settle into Las Vegas and prepare for the desert. Day 2 covers approximately 232 miles to Williams, Arizona. Cross the Hoover Dam area, enter Arizona, and continue through Kingman before joining the Route 66 corridor. Classic roadside towns, open desert, and the climb toward the pine-covered high country lead to Williams, a historic gateway to the Grand Canyon.

Day 3 is approximately 261 miles from Williams to Kanab. Ride north to the Grand Canyon and follow the South Rim, stopping at overlooks where the canyon opens across miles of layered rock. Continue east through the high desert, cross the Colorado River at Navajo Bridge, and enter the red-rock country surrounding Kanab. This is the tour’s longest and most visually varied stage.

The final 208-mile riding day heads from Kanab back to Las Vegas. Pass through Zion National Park, where towering sandstone walls frame a dramatic canyon road, then continue through southwestern Utah and Nevada. The itinerary also allows an optional Valley of Fire stop before the route returns to Las Vegas for the final night.

Williams and Kanab create two very different overnight experiences: one rooted in Route 66 railroad history and the other surrounded by Utah’s red-rock canyon country. The route is designed to place the Grand Canyon between them, allowing the journey to progress from Mojave desert to pine forest, canyon rim, high desert, and Zion’s narrow sandstone corridor before the lights of Las Vegas reappear.

Riders should expect major changes in temperature and elevation. Las Vegas and the lower desert can be hot and dry, while Williams, the Grand Canyon, and Zion may be considerably cooler. Carry water, pack layers, download offline maps, fuel early, and monitor park access, road closures, wind, and seasonal weather.

This is a self-guided tour, so there are no fixed group departure times and you can adjust stops to your pace. Booking the Experience includes a detailed tour booklet with the complete itinerary, daily mileage, route guidance, recommended attractions, dining and lodging suggestions, rider tips, and Google Maps navigation links.
