Riding a rented motorcycle in Seattle, Washington.

When most people think of Seattle, Washington, they think rain… lots of rain. But if that’s the only thing on your mind, you’re sure to miss out on a bevy of motorcycling events available for motorcycle enthusiasts cruising through town. Here is a roundup of local biker friendly things to do.

1. Slim’s Greaseball 5

August, 2023

Seattle, Washington

As crazy as it sounds, some folks get tired of seeing shiny new bikes. Sometimes you want to see old-school hot rods, custom choppers, and all manner of rat rods, bobbers, and vintage motorcycles. The annual Greaseball cycle show in Seattle is that event.

All of 1st Avenue South—a total of three blocks—is closed to showcase bikes. Additionally, live music will be rocking and Seattle DJ HUBBA HUBBA will MC the event.

2. Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

May 21, 2023

Seattle, Washington

On the opposite end of the spectrum to the rough-riding life of a biker, you might want to consider elevating yourself to the level of style exemplified by the television show Mad Men. You can do just this by attending Seattle’s annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Since the first Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in 2012, over 2,500 riders across 64 cities have participated in this event. It grows bigger and bigger over the years. Although founded in Australia, this event now takes place worldwide, bringing 120,000 gentlemen in over 650 cities together to compare their exquisite tastes in fashion—and bikes!

While it might be fun to curl your mustache and don a stylish fedora, you shouldn’t worry about making this a guilty pleasure. Its founder, Mark Hawwa, makes sure that all donation proceeds  go to the worthy cause of funding men’s mental health programs and prostate cancer research.

3. Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts Meetup

TBD, but typically 1st Wednesday of Every Month, 6pm to 9pm

Slim’s Last Chance Saloon: 5606 1st Ave S

Seattle, Washington 98108

Looking for fellow bikers interested in motorcycle preservation, restoration, and all things classic and vintage? Check out “the Northwest’s premier vintage motorcycle collector and enthusiast’s club,” the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts! (Founded in 1982, this group is also dedicated to motorcycle safety and awareness.)

The Enthusiasts’ regular meeting in Seattle takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at Slim’s Last Chance Saloon, just like the annual Greaseball mentioned above!

You’ll be pleased to know that each meetup will coincide with plenty of belly-filling specials.

There’s no cover, meaning there’s no reason not to stop by on your motorcycle rental if you happen to be in Seattle.

4. Backfire Moto Bar

2233 6th Ave S.

Seattle, Washington 98134

Billed as “the best bike event in Seattle” and “the ultimate meeting of the models,” Backfire Moto is sure to leave no motorcycle enthusiast disappointed.

This event brings together custom choppers, shiny cage racers, and some of the state’s dirtiest bikes, allowing their owners to socialize and have a beer. Live music and art shows are also a frequent feature of these meetups.

Now that you’ve seen what Seattle has to offer in the way of motorcycle events and meetups, you’re probably more eager to take your motorcycle the next time you plan to make it out to the Evergreen State.

And if you plan on flying in or driving a car, don’t let that discourage you—Riders Share can find you the perfect motorcycle rental in Seattle quickly.
