This is my Triumph Tiger 850 Sport. It’s essentially a stock bike — no heated grips, no quickshifter. The only aftermarket add-on is an Atlas throttle lock and a quad lock phone mount. What it is, is a genuinely easy motorcycle to spend a long day on.
The 888cc triple makes about 84 horsepower — plenty for passing on I-5 (no need to downshift from 6th) and plenty for a canyon road, without being intimidating. Power comes on smoothly down low, so it’s forgiving in traffic and on gravel. If you’ve ridden a middleweight ADV before, you’ll be at home in ten minutes. If this is your first one, it’s a good place to start.
Luggage
The locking top box is included with every booking. The two Triumph aluminum side panniers are $10/day, and they’re free on bookings of 5 days or more — if you’re taking a real trip, you get the full setup at no extra charge. With all three on, there’s room for a week of clothes and camp gear. Everything locks and everything’s weatherproof.
Comfort
Upright bars, a wide seat, and an adjustable windscreen that takes most of the wind off your chest. Seat height adjusts between 32.3 and 33.1 inches. It’s a real two-up bike with a proper passenger seat and grab rails.
Range
Around 230–250 miles per tank with the panniers on. Triumph rates it at 55 mpg; with bags and highway speeds it runs a bit under that, but you’re still stopping for gas less than most of what’s out there.
What’s on it
5-inch TFT display, Rain and Road ride modes (NO off-road traction mode- if you absolutely need to take a trail/ service road please use rain mode), ABS, traction control, USB charging for a phone or GPS, Brembo front brakes. Crash bars and handguards are already on, so a parking-lot tip-over isn’t a disaster.
Where people take it
Highway 101, Chinook and Stevens Pass, the Rainier loop, Crater Lake. It can handle maintained gravel and forest service roads — I’d rather it stayed off anything more technical than that.
*Service note*
The scheduled-maintenance reminder is currently showing on the dash. The bike is due for its routine oil change in October and the appointment is already booked. It’s a mileage-interval reminder, not a fault — the bike rides exactly as it should. However please keep this in mind before redlining my bike, would you do that to your own?
Gear is available for rent if you need it — just ask. I’m flexible on pickup times and I’ll do a walkaround with you before you leave so you’re comfortable with the controls. Happy to answer questions before you book.
Great way to explore the Pacific Northwest! Theo was a super nice dude. Bike was phenomenal. Great balance of weight and power. Highly recommend!!!
