Route 66 Biker Rally - Depew, OK

March 16th - 19th.

I guess this one isn't quite in the summer anymore, but it used to be held in June.

Depew is a tiny little town halfway between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. For one long weekend each year, Depew plays home to the Route 66 Biker Rally. This adults-only rally is a traditional event, with nightly bands, bike games, and contests. But it also boasts RV camping, a swimming hole, water slides, and so much more.

The rally grounds are a mere 45 minutes from Tusla, and just over an hour away from OKC. Even better, there are loads of bikes to choose from if you're headed out that way.

Christopher's Road Glide will get you to the rally in comfort and style. Patrick has a Royal Enfield with a sidecar for toting your guest or just a weekend's worth of camping supplies. Cezary's Gold Wing is decked out with a Comfort Package and navigation if you want to take some longer rides to see what Oklahoma has to offer.

Thunder in the Valley takes a different approach to the rally. There are parades, a bike show, rides to the Flight 93 memorial, a car show, and even a children's area on Saturday. Hotels can go fast, and will often show as sold out online. But they usually have rooms available if you call the hotel directly.

The Johnstown area, just 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, is chock full of American history. There are local and national heritage sites galore, and most of them are right along beautiful bike routes. That makes Thunder in the Valley a perfect destination for a rally combined with some stunning local rides.

Nicholas has am H-D Pan America that will give you a great vantage point for your rides. Ryan's BMW G 310 is loaded with features to keep you comfortable for hours. Ernest's Gold Wing Valkyrie is a stripped down touring bike for packing on the miles.

Gettysburg Bike Week is an all-ages event, with concerts from some top names. On top of the music, you can expect stunt shows, bike games, a memorial ride, and one of the best bike shows on the east coast.

While you're in the area, make sure to do a tour of the Civil War battlefields and historic markers. The Gettysburg Museum is well worth a stop, and you owe it to yourself to see the location of Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Gettysburg Address.

There are loads of great rental options close to Gettysburg. John's stable of bikes will definitely turn some people on. Alex's Royal Enfield Himalayan is brand new, decked out, has a low seat available, and is perfect for ripping the twisties.

The Boogie - Springville, IN

July 20th - 23rd

The Boogie, presented by ABATE of Indiana, prides itself on being "open to everyone, but not for everyone." We've had the pleasure of attending before, and have every intention of going back. It's four days of stunt shows, great music, and some of the best rally food you'll find anywhere.

Springville, Indiana plays home to The Boogie. It's about 70 miles south of Indianapolis, 80 from Louisville, KY or 140 from Cincinnati, OH. If your'e coming in from Ohio, take route 50 and stop by the Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge. It's worth the detour.

Take the trip from Indianapolis in style on Daryl's Indian Roadmaster. Nick has you covered with his H-D Heritage Softail if you're coming from Kentucky. Jackson's Indian Chief Dark Horse lets you feel the wind in your face, and it's an absolute steal at less than $60 per day.
