Florida is one of the most popular states for bikers in the nation. Between these amazing motorcycle rides in Florida to the motorcycle events and meetups happening every year, there is never a dull moment to be riding in Florida. But if you’re looking for the best motorcycle rides in Florida, look no further than Miami. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world come to Miami for its postcard-perfect weather and smooth roads, ideal for year-round travel. And while the riding is easy, the sightseeing is even more spectacular. In this blog, we’ll highlight some of the best motorcycle rides in Miami.

Best Rides in Miami

1. U.S. Route 41

best route in miami, fl - U.S. route 41

This trip is a must-see for would-be explorers of Florida’s undisturbed swamps. Route 41 takes travelers through the Big Cypress National Preserve on the northern border of the Everglades National Park for about 20 miles.

The Tamiami Trail, which you’ll be riding on for the majority of this route, consists of an unfenced road with one lane going in each direction. Animal crossings are common—you might catch sight of various exotic birds, flamingos, panthers, bobcats, and even alligators!

Amenities are mostly clustered at the beginning and end of this route. In particular, Naples Pier and Brickell Key are ideal spots for the road-weary traveler to get a taste of that authentic Floridian nightlife experience. If you’re willing to stop in the middle of the route, the Miccosukee Indian village is a good place to eat and learn about the local tribe. It’s important to note that Florida’s Turnpike, FL-836, and Northwest 137th Avenue are all toll roads. Plan accordingly.

Route 41 allows you to see both Florida coasts and features plenty of amazing towns in the country to stop out and explore on your motorcycle.

2. Great Lake Okeechobee

Those looking for the perfect afternoon ride can do no better than taking a ride around the great Lake Okeechobee in the heart of the Sunshine State.

John Stretch Memorial Park, near Lake Harbor, affords views of various dikes built around Lake Okeechobee by the Army Corps of Engineers (these dikes protect the whole area from flooding).

Near Buckhead Ridge, we recommend making a short detour onto the dirt road overlooking the lake—you’ll snap some great pictures. Otherwise, pack a lunch and bring along a fishing pole; there are plenty of places to picnic and fish.

Road quality around Lake Okeechobee ranges from fair to great. Many of the roads have sand and gravel on them, but this isn’t out of the ordinary for Florida’s rural areas.

3. Overseas Highway

best rides in miami, fl - overseas highway

Riding from Miami to Key West along the Overseas Highway is an experience filled with stunning ocean views and unique island charm. Starting in Miami, the journey heads south towards the tranquil beauty of Key Largo, the gateway to the Florida Keys. As the route winds through the Upper Keys, each island, from Tavernier to Islamorada, offers its own unique attractions and natural beauty.

The ride hits a high point at the Seven Mile Bridge in Marathon, where the ocean stretches out on both sides, offering a spectacular riding experience. In the Lower Keys and Big Pine Key, the scenery shifts to serene natural reserves, home to the rare Key deer.

The journey comes to a head in Key West, where historic sites and lively streets await. Covering around 164 miles and taking approximately 3.5 hours, this route is not just a road trip but an exploration of Florida’s coastal richness. With the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, the ride is a must-do for anyone seeking a unique motorcycle experience.

4. Miami Beach to Naples to Keys

This motorcycle route contains the best sections of the Scenic Southern Loop and Tamiami Trials. It’s best suited for riders who want to get away from it all while exploring the southern tip of Florida. It’s pretty similar to our Overseas Highway route, except this ride is more suitable for those who want to stay on the road longer.

The quickest way to Naples from Miami Beach is I-75 North. Once you’re in Naples, get onto Route 41 (the Tamiami Trail). Follow the signs pointing you toward Key Largo. After you reach Route 1, you can follow it down to Key West. Go back the same way you came if you want to return to Naples, or return directly to Miami if you prefer a shorter return trip.

We can’t recommend this route enough; it’s paradise. You’ll see some of the most spectacular tropical scenery between Key Largo and Key West. The Seven Mile Bridge portion of the Overseas Highway has been made famous in many Hollywood movies, so snap some Instagram-worthy pictures or take in the view of the Florida Keys on either side of you.

Key West itself is one of Florida’s hottest vacation spots. American author Ernest Hemingway once called this place home, so fans of the author have to visit the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum if they have the time. The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory is brimming with loggerhead turtles, stingrays, and sometimes even a few barracudas.

You won’t find any technical driving around here—this route is all about the scenery and wildlife. It’s smooth sailing down to Mile Marker 0.
