“A motorcycle does not know what gender you are.”

Historically, riding for men meant sporty, heavier bikes. For women, it meant lightweight, “dainty” looking motorcycles. Those days have long passed. I want to make a few things clear before we get started:

  1. Ride what makes you happy- bikes don’t discriminate.
  2. Women used to account for around 5-10% of overall riders back in the early 2000s. That number is now around 20% of all motorcycle riders in the USA.
  3. “Motorcycles for women” often refer to bikes that cater to the height of most women on average (around 5’4”)  - Some women are taller, and some are shorter. Ride what you fit on!
  4. Historically, these articles mention bikes that are lightweight and easy to handle - Ride what you feel comfortable with.
  5. Above all, we will focus more on motorcycles that women more frequently purchase based on feedback from you.

Some of these bikes may not be suitable for beginners. To find the best beginner motorcycles for women (or men), click HERE

Summary of Best Motorcycles for Women

Riding what makes you happy will make all the difference when it comes to purchasing a motorcycle. Most motorcycles offer an array of features and customization options, meaning that if need be, you can always get a seat or suspension kit to fit the bike to your stature. With that said, there are some bikes that are more celebrated by women than others and may be more suited right off the lot for shorter statures.

It’s definitely wise to test ride your bike or even rent out the motorcycle in question for a few days to really get a feel for how it handles. The look and initial feel of a bike may seem to be the right choice, but you don’t want to drive off the lot and feel any buyer’s remorse.
